Forest Department is no less responsible for deforestation in the country: Advisor Supradeep Chakma
Supradeep Chakma said that if it is said that there is nothing left in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, it would not be far wrong. Until 1980, there were forests, trees, and shrubs here. The Forest Department is no less responsible for the destruction of trees in this region or in the country. Supradeep Chakma also said that larger forests than the Chittagong Hill Tracts can now be seen in Munshiganj, Narsingdi, or Sylhet. Everyone should wonder why this situation has arisen in the hilly regions.
The hilly regions advisor also said that the feeling of winter was usually felt in the hilly regions in the early months of Bhadra. Now, even in the month of Kartik, the feeling of winter is not felt. Those who have been living in this region since ancient times were aware of nature. That is why it is not heard that there have been many landslides on them. It has not happened in their houses either. Landslides happen on those who do not know nature.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Habib Ullah presided over the inauguration ceremony of the tree fair. Apart from this, Senior Secretary of the Planning Commission AKM Akmal Hossain Azad, Conservator of Forests of Rangamati Circle Md. Abdul Awal Sarkar, District Police Superintendent SM Farhad Hossain, Civil Surgeon Nuen Khisa, Divisional Forest Officer of the South Forest Division S E S Sajjad Hossain and others spoke.
